Kipp Michael Koenig

Kipp Michael Koenig, 62, of Belvidere, IL, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born March 10, 1963, in Marshfield, Wisconsin. The son of the late Ervin A. and Bernetta “Bunnie” (Stangl) Koenig. He graduated from Belvidere High School in 1981 . Kipp married Jeanine H. DeSmet January 5, 2018, at St. James Catholic Church in Belvidere. He retired from Chrysler after 30 years working as a journeyman electrician. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Belvidere and was a Knights of Columbus. Kipp enjoyed camping, fishing, and riding his Harley Davidson. He also liked to play pool, softball, and traveling. Most of all he loved to spend time with his family. He is loved and will be missed by his beloved wife, Jeanine Koenig; sons, Michael Koenig, Joseph Koenig, Casey Simmons, and Jacob Woyner; grandchildren, Grace Koenig, Cheyenne Simmons, and Brooksdon Simmons; siblings, Kathleen Plager, and Patrick Koenig; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; best friends, Chris Drews, Wally Johnson, and Rick Berry; cherished Bloodhound, JoJo and Charley the Cat. A special thanks to Dr. Neal Kellenberger and Sara Givens for their love and support over the years. There will be a visitation Friday, February 27, 2026 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Belvidere Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Belvidere, IL. A Rosary will be said at 7:00 P.M. There will be a funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at St. James Catholic Church in Belvidere, IL. Interment in Highland Garden of Memories in Belvidere, IL. A lunch will be served at the VFW Post in Belvidere IL. immediately after the burial.  In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Epilepsy Foundation or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
